The Zen of Grandmotherhood

On Sunday, November 1, twenty-four members of the GaGa Sisterhood sat shoulder-to-shoulder, laughing and sharing all the crazy, inventive ways they engage with their grandchildren. “Creativity is not just for writers, artists, and famous people,” explained our presenter Susan Borkin. “Everyday creativity is a wonderful way to play and bond with our grandchildren.” (more…)

We parents and grandparents need all the help we can get in connecting with our children and grandchildren. I’ve recently discovered a wonderful non-profit organization in Palo Alto, California called Hand in Hand, whose primary focus is nurturing the parent-child connection. Their mission is: to foster healthy parent-child relationships that will last a lifetime. Our GaGa Sisterhood mission completely aligns: to inspire grandmothers to continue growing and evolving so we can build lifelong meaningful relationships with our children and grandchildren. (more…)

What a wonderful meeting of the GaGa Sisterhood we had! And how appropriate that we met on National Grandparents Day. Thirteen of us sat in a circle and took turns responding to our topic: Who Are You When You’re Not Grandma?

Before we began, I explained that Grandparents Day was not dreamed up by Hallmark, as many of our members thought, but founded thirty years ago by Marian McQuade, a grandmother of 43 grandchildren. (more…)
