Wright on Time Book Review

This review was written by my nine-year old granddaughter, Juliet, a voracious reader who devours about four books a day.  When she’s not reading, she rides horses, plays piano, creates art, and recently got her ears pierced.Juliet met author Lisa Cotrell-Bently this summer at the annual Home School Association of California conference. When Juliet told Lisa how much she enjoys reading mysteries, she gave her five books with the agreement that she would review one of them on my blog. Here is Juliet’s review of Wright on Time, a collection of four books about the Wright family’s adventures in Arizona, Utah, Wyoming, and South Dakota.

The main characters are Nadia and Aidan. Notice anything about their names? Nadia spelled backwards is Aidan!

Aidan is seven years old and likes bats. Nadia is his older sister. She’s eleven and wears interesting clothes and has an excellent sense of fashion. Their pet turtle is named Prince Pumpkin III.

They live in an RV with their mom and dad. The children are homeschooled and travel and learn on the road. Their mom and dad tell them about the places they are going to visit: Arizona, Utah, Wyoming, and South Dakota.

The Wright family finds a mysterious device they call the “time tuner” in a cave in Arizona. It glows in the dark and shows mysterious figures that you can’t see in the daytime. In South Dakota it freezes time so the family can explore the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.

In Wyoming, the “time tuner” grows magical plants. The mom, Stephanie, is wishing for some grapes and is holding the time tuner. It surprises them all by growing a grape vine with ripe grapes right in front of their astonished eyes! The “time tuner” powers computers when they can’t get power in Utah.

They find dinosaur bones in Utah and Aidan loses two teeth while they’re digging for bones. They explore geysers and fly in a private helicopter in Wyoming.

I would recommend this collection for kids ages 7 – 11 who like exciting adventures and suspenseful mysteries. I think it’s neat that they are homeschooled. As Aidan often says, this collection is “freaky cool!”
