About Me
Hi, I’m Donne Davis. As a speech therapist, writer, college outreach counselor, and speaker, I’ve always had one mission: to share information that enriches people’s lives. I’m accomplishing this by writing, speaking and creating community.
As a wife, a daughter, a mother of two adult children, and a grandmother of two granddaughters, I have another equally important mission: to make time to connect with them. I achieve this by talking to them and seeing them regularly, by creating family traditions and celebrations, and by telling them how grateful I am that they’re in my life.
Six years ago, after witnessing the birth of my first grandchild, I founded the GaGa Sisterhood, a social network for enthusiastic grandmas.
The Mission of the GaGa Sisterhood
- Explore what it means to be a grandma today—both the joys and challenges.
- Share wisdom and resources that enrich our family life.
- Inspire each other with creative ways to stay connected with our grandchildren
I write about these issues in this blog, in a monthly ezine, and in a monthly newspaper column “The Go-To Grandma” in Parenting on the Peninsula. I am also a contributor to a new anthology, The Art of Grandparenting—a funny, touching, informative collection of essays, stories, and tips by 20 grandparent authors. In my chapter, How to Become a Go-To Grandma, I offer seven strategies for developing lifelong meaningful relationships with your children and grandchildren.
For over fifteen years I’ve been speaking to groups about how to connect with your family using simple rituals.
My two granddaughters are my favorite playmates. They call me “Baba.” When I can’t play with them, I enjoy yoga, hiking, journal writing, meditating, singing, and gathering family and friends together for celebrations.
