Eight years ago we were celebrating my daughter’s birthday. After opening all of her presents, she told my husband and me, “We have a gift for you, too.” We opened the gift bag stuffed with tissue paper and, to our delight, found a license plate holder that read, “Grandparents…Finally!!!” That’s one way to get the good news.

Last fall I discovered a wonderful non-profit organization in Palo Alto, California called Hand in Hand. Their primary focus is nurturing the parent-child connection. Recently a friend introduced me to Yeshi Neumann—a grandmother, midwife, and workshop facilitator. Yeshi is offering a workshop titled “Conscious Grandmothering.” The day-long workshop invites participants to explore their full potential as grandmothers.
